Product Categories — Organize Your Store and Help Customers Find Things
How product categories work in Svippit: group your products into categories, move many at once, drag to set the order, and your store gets tidy sections with quick navigation.
Why categories?
Useful when you have many products: categorizing them makes the overview cleaner for both you and your customers.
- A tidier product list. Your dashboard groups products the way you think: one section per category, with the count next to each name.
- Customers find things faster. Your store shows the same groups as sections, with quick navigation at the top, in exactly the order you chose.
- Nothing changes until you start. A store without categories looks exactly like before. Products without a category always keep showing, at the bottom.
How it works
- Create your first category. On the Products page, press "Create categories" and give the first one a name. You can rename it, reorder it or delete it whenever you like.
- Move many products at once. Press "Select" next to a section heading, tick the products, then press "Move to category". Pick a category, or create a new one right there, and they all move together.
- Drag to set the order. In the categories panel, drag the handle next to a name to reorder. The order you set is the order your customers see.
- Your store follows along. Every category with products becomes a section in your store, with quick links at the top. Products without a category are gathered under "Other products" at the end.
Good to know
- One category per product. A product belongs to at most one category, and the category is optional. Products without one keep working exactly as before.
- Deleting is safe. Deleting a category never deletes products. They are kept and move to "Uncategorised", and no orders or links are affected.
- Empty categories stay hidden. Build the structure first and fill it later if you like. A category without visible products never shows in your store.
- Single products too. Editing one product? The product form has an optional category field, so you can set it there as well.
Produktkategorier i Svippit
Med kategorier grupperer du produktene dine slik du selv tenker: én seksjon per kategori i dashbordet, og de samme seksjonene i nettbutikken med hurtignavigasjon øverst. Du flytter mange produkter samtidig ved å trykke «Velg» ved en seksjonsoverskrift, huke av produktene og trykke «Flytt til kategori». Rekkefølgen bestemmer du ved å dra kategoriene i panelet.
Et produkt hører til maks én kategori, og kategorien er valgfri. Produkter uten kategori vises alltid nederst, under «Andre produkter» i butikken. Å slette en kategori sletter aldri produkter, og tomme kategorier vises ikke i butikken. En butikk uten kategorier ser helt ut som før.
